Welsh Bands
It's not all Manic Street glamour,
Catatonia drawls, and Shaking Stevens St. Vitus Frenzies in Wales, you know. Most
bands struggle, with little reward, for that one single opportunity to be heard.
Some, like unwanted Christmas pets, spend their lives wandering up and down the motorway
hard shoulder cursing their broken-down rental van. Some bands are reputed to have
never found their way back, trapped forever on some kind of tarmac Moebius Strip.
Remember Budgie? I rest my case!
100,000 BodyBags have released several singles and a CD album (See Discography).
They produce a surprisingly varied sound, comprising of power-punk, rock, and
slight touches of reggae. Click on the link for more.
Orange Free State have no
official releases, apart from Sam's parole. Masters of Power-pop. Often
referred to, (by themselves) as the 'Welsh' Manics, they bear more of a resemblence
to the Buzzcocks, Pixies, and R.E.M. Again click on the link.
Tales from Manic Street. You can read here of the little-known exploits of the 'Patron Saints of Wails'
